I am attempting to save the hardy fig. It has had a hard couple of years of neglect, and was not wrapped last winter. In the past it has produced dozens of figs, but last season it did not produce well.
Many of the branches are coming up from the base, and were growing prostate to the ground. I have staked the green branches upright, after pruning back all of the dead wood and cleaning out branches that crossed. The goal was to reshape the form more vase like so that it can be wrapped before winter.
