Our biggest challenge in the sod removal project was disposal of the sod. When we called around we were directed to the landfill!
Well, we did not want to take the green waste to the landfill. Not only would the material not decompose in a modern sanitary landfill because there is little air, what does decompose contributes to methane gas output.
We finally found a farmer that would take the material for fill.
Usually we compost all of our own green waste, from the kitchen to the garden, in worm bins (vermicomposting) and yard bins but the sod project was too large to remain on site.
