Ginger the Bird Whisperer

Last Christmas Eve we adopted a rescue kitty. We had recently lost 2 other cats to old age, and my girls found Ginger in the Furry Friends rescue display at our local pet store.

Not 6 months later poor Ginger found herself on the road trip of a lifetime. 2400 miles cross county from Washington state to Northern Indiana. And she was amazing. We kennel trained her and taught her how to drink water from a bunny bottle that hung on the side of the cage. She even managed a makeshift litter box at the rear of the kennel.

And it never occurred to me to add pet insurance to our coverage. What if we had been in an accident? Pet coverage would have covered vet bills and other expenses for her, just like any other member of the family. I am sure owners of pedigree pets think of these things, but we were so lucky!

I just couldn't imagine being here going through this transition without Ginger sliding across the hardwood floors chasing birds (and the neighbor's cat) from window to window.
