Last night I spent quite some time looking for backyard photos for the real estate agent. I even pulled out the removable drive that I keep all of our photos backed up on...oh, wow! There were 8 years of garden photos. A lot of the photos were close-up or focused on a technique but I did find a few full scene images to send.
A professional photographer is going out today to take photos of the house, but the backyard is covered in leaves and the forecast is for rain. We pulled the house off the market a week ago and cancelled our agency contract due to a few issues, after 3 months on the market :( The house should be listed again soon. There is a real emotional tie to each of the past properties for me. A lot of time, planning and hours of manual labor went into those gardens. And even more, the photos of harvest baskets and the meals that followed really brought a smile to me face.
In many ways I am looking forward to beginning a new garden with all of those "learning experiences" behind me, but part of every transition is that feeling of loss over what is left behind.
