I finally broke down and cut back the roses today. They continued to bloom through November. Several buds remained and I salvaged this one.
I am anxious to see how the roses do in the Spring. They were looking rather weary when we moved in . . . after the banana peel application and a good pruning they did very well, but Spring will be the real test.
I found several bulbs during the initial yard clean up. I salvaged several, and decided to force these to see what happens.

My roses are still flowering too, not with the gay abandon of summer but they do put up a flower or two still.
ReplyDeleteI feed my roses banana peel and coffee grounds and they love it. I apply organic fertilizer twice a year (March and end of June)which keeps them happy and healthy.
Good luck with your bulb forcing!
Are those narcissus very fragrant? I think they are so pretty...but I am pretty sensitive to 'flowery' smells....I think I just answered my own question! Oh well...
ReplyDeleteThey look like they are off to a good start.
